I am an EX caregiver for my husband who had the "NO CURE" disease ALS aka Lou Gehrig's MND disease. I was not a nurse or medically educated, I was thrown into this role because of ALS & I had to learn fast. I am a writer of nothing's unless you care or want to know or be informed about ALS, HOWEVER I DON'T SUGAR COAT SUBJECT'S as ALS is far from sweet. There are also many informative Blogs and helpful links, self knowledge is power, Thank You for visiting.

I am so sorry. Does he have a brace? Sometimes that can help. There are no easy answers. I can only imagine how difficult this is for you. Stay strong and prayers coming your way.
ReplyDeleteHi :0) they could have braced him last week however the physiotherapist did not want to because his muscles will atrophy even faster, so he wants to wait till Don absolutely has to have the brace, it is difficult but he still sadly has a long road to go :0( ALS is a monster, it helps to talk with people.
ReplyDeleteI understand about the brace...I have one on my left leg...but it is not from als. I had an attack of MS in 2003 and my left side was partially paralyzed. I am blessed that all function returned except for the drop foot. I just have a lot of health problems. No one seems to give me ONE diagnosis...I have several...I listed them on my blog. My blog helps me vent!!
ReplyDeleteI know it helps to talk to people. I pray you have a big support group. My Godmother got a brace for her foot. She is using a cane now. She also had to get a c-pap machine...breathing in is okay, but exhaling is weak. God bless all those with this disease and their family and friends.
I am so sorry you have had to deal with not having a firm diagnosis, I think for a human being the hardest thing to fathom is "what is wrong with me"? when you know hav e a firm DX you can tackle it head on & get on with your life & things are not so confusing, (((((((hugs))))) to you.
